Private Eye at Sloane Square - Je suis Charlatan!

Techie note: This was my first major outing with a Fujifilm X-M1 which I had bought as an even smaller carry around alternative to my X-E2 (which isn't exactly huge itself). I tried using it with manual focus, in which respect it is simply not as easy to use as its big brother. And somewhere along the line, a button got pressed which I was not aware of and the camera, rather than shooting RAW, was shooting sepia JPG's only, which I've turned into B&W.

I'm not sure if any of these will finish up in my Chelsea and Fulham gallery - I probably have to get over my disappointment first....  The moral: know your camera, check its settings!

Madonna and Child in Marylebone

"Madonna and Child by Jacob Epstein"

This print is a sculpture of the Madonna and Child by Jacob Epstein, sitting over Dean's Mews, Cavendish Square, at the edge of Marylebone, London. The buildings behind, now occupied by The King's Fund, were apparently once a convent. This was an unexpected find on the walk back to Oxford Circus tube after meeting up with friends.

If a lawn on Trafalgar Square was not surreal enough...

And now to one of my most surreal images - I cannot quite figure out which way up the print should hang, and am quite prepared to leave that detail to anybody who might put it on their wall.

But just to clarify, there is no jiggery-pokery involved, this is 2007 and that really was Trafalgar Square covered in a lawn.

Getting off the fence, this is the way I like to see it....

Brighton to London Victoria, morning to evening, platform to platform

Once commuting defined large chunks of my life, albeit I never engaged in it to the extent of some of today's long distance commuters. Now I do enjoy getting in from Brighton to London, and do so about once a week, and that enjoyment is enhanced by avoiding commuters, the pleasure of a relatively empty train and even more deserted platforms.

I've just bought today's ticket, Brighton to Victoria and All Zones Travelcard, £14.85 with my Network Railcard. With the election approaching, I intend to pick up from where I left off with my North Circular Wall blog, highlighting issues relating to the barriers being erected in society which are rather more insurmountable than the barriers at the end of these platforms or the relatively meagre cost of my off-peak ticket.
